The hemispherical resonator gyroscope (HRG) is a kind of novel solidstate gyroscope with high precision,high reliability and long life.HRGs has a series of unique advantages and is the only vibration gyroscope which can be up to the inertial grade, thus has been drawn great attention in the inertial technology community.Based on analyzing the reports on HRGs at home and abroad,the development and current status of HRGs are overviewed and commented in this paper. The future trends of HRGs is also discussed.
